Whooville Gardens
Candy Kitchen, NM is located in a high desert climate (7300 ft.).
Our average growing season is only 90 - 100 days.
In order to make our gardens sustainable, we use the principles of
"Rainwater Harvesting" and "Gaia's Garden".

The grey water* from the main house is used to water the main garden.
*Grey water comes from the shower, the washing mashing and the studio sink.
The garden paths form earth barriers to help the water flow where it is needed.
Until the fruit trees are established and able to drop their leaves to enrich the soil,
we cover the ground with compost and straw to keep the water from evaporating
too quickly. The goats and alpacas contribute to the compost.

We have a lot of flowers in our garden to help maintain our bee hives.
